The Stoning of Soraya M.
is the TRUE story in movie form of the treatment of women in Iran. The book was banned in Iran and a few other places. Though graphic, anyone interested in human rights or Iranian culture could gain insight by viewing it. Jim Caviezel (of The Passion) believed in the value of this story and accepted a leading role in it. I’m not one to jump on every cause that comes along and many are legit, but this one got to me.

Poor Planning Just Makes Life Harder
I was speaking in a small town recently, sitting in a hotel room and picked up their local paper. Not much news in the 8 page paper, but there was an interesting “Police Report Section”. It told of crimes over the past two weeks. What caught my eye was this, “(1). Piggly Wiggly reports 2 steaks stolen at 11:28 a.m. (2). George Lanny reports gas stolen from tractor @ 11:41 a.m. (3) Piggly Wiggly reports 10 pound bag of charcoal stolen @ 11:58 a.m. (4) Buster Womack reports hornet nest upset @ 12:20 p.m. (5) Piggly Wiggly reports 6 pack of beer & large bottle of A1 Sauce stolen @ 12:35 p.m.) By now I was crying with laughter. Can you imagine 2 guys in a truck that keep going back to the Piggly Wiggly to steal each item individually for their grill out? You know, “I thought you got the coals Bubba?” Now I’m not endorsing stealing, I hope the steaks charred for doing it, but do you see how much time and energy is wasted when we fail to plan? You get the point, I’m going out to fire up the grill.

7 People Every Couple Needs to Avoid in their Marriage
This weekends sermon identifies the people you need to avoid to have a healthy marriage. Our associations affect us, so it’s wise to know who should be included or excluded in our relationships. Great marriages don’t just happen, they’re the result of good choices. In this message, Debbie and I provide insight of who’s allowed to have input in our marriage.

Bill Purvis Leadership
Bill Purvis Leadership is a monthly mentoring program for those unique people with a serious passion to grow and reach goals in life. Life gives us honest feedback. Feedback from our efforts, choices or strategies of the past. A better life and better results are possible, but most people won’t make the effort to improve. They’d rather make excuses, complain about their situation, or envy those living the life they want. I discovered long ago that about 1 in 1,000 really take personal responsibility for their own growth. Those few are happy, growing and moving toward a better life. When I started Bill Purvis Leadership for them, that was one of the best decisions of my life and best investments of my time. Today, hundreds of leaders attest to the value it brings them and for me I’ve enjoyed seeing people reach their goals. As an added bonus, I get to meet some “real winners” through it. If you are one of those 1 in 1,000 interested in personal growth and a life that keeps improving, check it out on this site, Billpurvis.com. It comes monthly to your office or home with cd & notes. This may be just what you’re looking for.

“7 People every Couple Needs in their Life”
This is the title of this weeks message. Looking back over 29 years of marriage, Debbie and I listed 7 types of people who added value to our marriage and how important it is that growing couples identify and include these types in certain phases of their marriage journey. Sometimes we allow the wrong people in our lives or we allow people who add no value. It’s important to be intentional, specific, & have a clear plan to build a great marriage. This message is designed to be a guide in that process.
