My First Blog…ever!
O.K., this is my first blog on a site, any site, ever in my life, so bear with me. I’m advised to share something personal, etc., so here goes.
By the time I complete this weekend, I will have preached 12 times in 8 days. 27 people were saved last weekend at CHC and many others joined, came to be baptized, or make other life changes. God’s grace is wonderful. I also had the privilege of preaching in my hometown of Eufaula for 3 days this week at the First Baptist Church. Dr. Ken Bush is doing an outstanding job there as pastor for the past 25 years. He, his family and staff were so kind to me. It was good to see so many friends from my youth, along with teachers, coaches, and even the high school principal, Mr. Quinney. He and I laughed a lot about those years. It was one of the few times we met that I didn’t have to “assume the position” for misbehavior. I love those folks and have special memories of them and their love for me.
On Friday evening, I’m honored to lead the opening service of a new church plant (New Birth Outreach Center) in Harris County, Georgia as they enter their new 2 million dollar facility. I rejoice with Pastor Coleman, his church, and family for their incredible growth and the integrity in which he leads that church.
On the homefront, our sons and their wives are all doing very well. Our new grandson is expected to arrive on my birthday of May 16, so what a present that should be. I just read the book, Awareness by Kenneth Cole, (yes, the watch designer) this week, about giving, serving and volunteering as the path to a fulfilling life. It’s refreshing to see a secular agreement to spiritual principles. O.K., that’s my first blog..look for more from here on.
