Tribute to Raymond Debice

After a long battle with prostate cancer, Raymond Debice went to be with our LORD on Tuesday morning. I was blessed beyond words to know Raymond. He was gentle, kind, Christlike in every way. His wife Janice is the best personal soul-winner I know. In fact, just moments after Raymond’s death, Janice stepped in the hospital room next to him and led another patient to faith in Christ. The faith of this family was real and their love was always genuine. When he and I were together on Friday night he told me again of his love for me and the message of grace he found when he came to CHC. It wasn’t really necessary to tell me, Raymond’s actions proved his love. Please keep Janice and the family in your prayers. Ironically, Raymond’s brother also passed away the very same day, only a few hours after him in another city. The family is considering having both funerals at the same time. Brothers in life here and brothers in heaven today and forever. We will miss him very much, but thank God we will see him again one day.

Brother Bill, I want to thank you and all of CHC for the out reach to our family in Dad’s passing. Just in watching the lives he touched, makes me wonder if he wasn’t an angel amoung us. He is able to attend your service that he longed to do since not being able to get out of bed without help now and I feel he won’t miss one. I thank the Lord Jesus for putting him in my life, he really was our diamond in the rough! Though I miss him everyday, I do know he is still right by mom’s side…waiting for her to finish telling smeone about the lord and all his great things. lol Please if at all possible, use Dad’s story of his extreme faith in thelord to help people understand, that’s what he’d want more than anything. Thank you and God bless

I met Raymond and Janice around 1990 when I was a teenager working at Chick-fil-A in the Albany, Georgia mall. They came every year when the craft booths were set up to sell their crafts, and would always set up outside our store. They were the most solid Christian people, and they treated all of us very well, as we did them, also. We provided them with coffee, and they gave us great deals on crafts for Mothers Day, etc. I can remember Janice leading a few of us in prayer in the middle of the mall one time. I can’t even remember the circumstance, but someone desperately needed prayer, and I just remember their faithfulness.

I didn’t see them from 1992 until a couple of years ago. Living in the Columbus area now, I ran into them at Country’s and talked with them for a while. Then, several months after it happened, I heard that Raymond had passed away. After reading Bro. Bill’s post, I can say that is exactly the faith I saw in them years ago - when Janice went into that room and led someone to Christ after just losing her husband. When you meet genuine, wonderful people, you never forget them. The DeBices are just that kind of people!
